In today’s fast-paced, data-driven environments, professionals spend significant time creating, formatting, and personalizing PowerPoint presentations. This manual effort to compile data, structure slides, and ensure consistent design can be inefficient, repetitive, and prone to errors—especially when these presentations are critical to quarterly and annual management meetings.

In multinational corporations (MNCs) with multi-billion dollar valuations, these meetings at country and global levels are essential for guiding key decisions around product strategy, business performance, and growth initiatives. For these organizations, accuracy, clarity, and consistency in data presentation are paramount. Therefore, there is a growing need for a streamlined solution that not only automates the presentation creation process but also ensures data accuracy, visual consistency, and ease of customization.

The Solution

SlideHero aims to bridge this gap by developing a user-friendly, web-based application to automate ready-to-use deck creation. The platform will serve as a powerful tool to generate professional presentations with minimal manual input, focusing on the following key functionalities:

Data Linking Wizard

A guided interface to link data directly to PowerPoint slides, allowing users to populate presentations with live data effortlessly.

Predefined Layouts

A selection of layout options based on a 3-column grid system, enabling users to maintain visual harmony and consistency across slides.

Live Slide Visualization

Real-time previews that allow users to see changes as they make them, reducing the need for repeated adjustments.

PowerPoint Export and Library Management

Ability to export fully prepared presentations, save versions in an organized library, and easily duplicate templates for new projects.

Predefined Data Queries

Built-in data queries that pull from a single data source, ensuring that users always have up-to-date information at their fingertips.

SlideHero – After several rounds of UAT and iterative refinements, a fully functional web app for smart deck creation was launched regionally within the company.

The project delivered a scalable and intelligent reporting solution that:

  • Significantly automated BI deck creation, saving time and effort

  • Reduced manual processes, minimizing errors and inconsistencies

  • Delivered consistent, high-quality outputs across teams

  • Enhanced efficiency in data storytelling and reporting workflows

Due to its strong adoption and measurable impact, SlideHero was later rolled out globally across the organization.

Challenge

Every minute, humanity consumes over a million plastic bottles—an alarming figure that underscores one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.

Sustainability was a topic close to my heart since 2008. Swapp! was born from a lively coffee table conversation with Simon, one of the co-founders, where a shared passion for sustainability drove us to think beyond the box and come up with innovative ideas.

We rephrased the problem in to a few HMW's:
- How might we equip retailers and producers with innovative, sustainable sales channels for FMCG that reduce environmental impact?

- How might we inspire and empower consumers to adopt more sustainable habits when purchasing and using FMCG products?

- How might we drive widespread awareness and encourage behavioral change to minimize the reliance on single-use packaging in everyday purchases?

02. The Solution

Refill-as-a-Service: buy product, not packaging.

Swapp! offers a unique solution in Poland, enabling brands to sell their products through Swapp!'s refill stations. Customers can purchase products using their own packaging or opt for reusable packaging provided near the refill station within the retail space. After filling their packaging, a label is printed with EAN codes and product details. Customers can then pay for their refilled products at the checkout, seamlessly alongside their other purchases.

The Ecosystem

Essentially, there are 3 key elements in the refill-as-a-service ecosystem. Click for more details.

1. Refill Station

A state of the art Refill Station with modern and modular design, with 2 independent dispensers. Upto 8 liquid products can be dispensed with a total bulk capacity of 160 liters (20 liter max per product, but usually filled up to 12 liters for easy handling). Large interactive screen for the end Customers, which double up as a solid advertising screen. The unique 'pacman' holding mechanism supports dispensing into 95% of the bottles in the market as well as into jars. 

2. Smart Packaging

Reusable and traceable Packaging made of virgin HDPE. Usual capacity of 500-1000ml. Glass bottles were also provided in some of the retail points due to requirements from the brand. 

3. Connected Apps

Partners are provided with a Partner web app for monitoring inventory and sales. Admin has a webapp for overlal solution management. Customer mobile app helps in discovery of refill points, products available, CO2 footprint, as well as provides loyalty benefits. 

1. Refill Station - Key Features

The refill stations were designed with 2 independent dispensing units, each supporting 8 separate product lines, allowing for the dispensing of multiple product categories. This setup offered a total of up to 8 unique products. The innovative Pac-Man mechanism ensured compatibility with most commercially available bottles and jars, accommodating varying neck sizes for a seamless refill experience.

Swapp! successfully implemented a total of 8 refill stations across three of the leading retail chains in Poland: Carrefour, Auchan, and Superpharm. These stations were strategically located in three major cities: Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Krakow. The rollout included installations in both sprawling hypermarkets and mid-sized stores, catering to a diverse range of customer needs and shopping environments.

This initiative marked a significant step toward integrating sustainable practices into mainstream retail, providing customers with convenient access to refill solutions and encouraging the adoption of reusable packaging in everyday shopping.

Role & Impact

I had the pleasure to work across various functions in this project. Primarily I was leading all the Design and Technology function. Along with that,

As Head of Design and Technology, I had the opportunity to lead and collaborate across multiple domains:

  • UX/UI Design: Designed the user experience and interfaces for a 27-inch interactive refill station screen, a web solution for partners and administrators, and a mobile app for end customers.
  • Product Configuration Design: Led the design and optimization of product lines, dispensing mechanisms, and packaging handling systems to ensure efficient operations and user satisfaction.
  • Development Collaboration: Worked closely with frontend and backend developers to implement the designed UX/UI, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Cross-Functional Development: Partnered daily with mechanical, electronics, and embedded engineering teams to oversee the end-to-end development process, successfully implementing all core functionalities of the refill stations.
  • Testing and Iteration: Collaborated with the development team on rigorous testing and iterative improvement cycles to refine and enhance the final solutions.

01 . The Challenge

How might we make the metals market more transparent, liquid, and accessible for both institutional and retail investors by removing barriers and inefficiencies in traditional trading?

The traditional metals market, particularly for precious metals like gold and silver, is burdened by several challenges—high barriers to entry, lack of liquidity, and limited transparency in trading and ownership. Physical ownership of metals involves cumbersome costs related to storage, transportation, and security, which discourage smaller investors from participating.

Furthermore, existing systems lack real-time, secure transaction tracking, making metals trading slow and inefficient. In today’s digital age, investors are increasingly seeking ways to access stable, inflation-resistant assets that combine the tangible value of metals with the flexibility and transparency of modern technologies.

02 . The Solution

The Digital Metal Exchange (DMX) is an online trading platform where metals in all forms are available for investment and trade. With new metal asset classes and a highly secure, peer-to-peer exchange, DMX offers an efficient, low-latency trading and investment environment.

We enable early-stage mines to raise capital by forward-selling some of their production, while opening the metals market to investors and traders who to-date have found it difficult.

As clear sourcing of the metal is built into our Asset Monetisation Process™, DMX's gold mining clients offer certified Single Origin Gold™ with transparent provenance. This is an important feature for manufacturers seeking to work only with ethically produced gold.

03 . Key Highlights & Outcomes

Digital Metal Exchange (DMX) - A fully functional online platform was launched that allowed traders and investors to trade and invest in metals.

Investors seeking exposure to early-stage gold mines were able to purchase millions of dollars’ worth of gold at a discount through a digital exchange. This development provided a unique opportunity, offering discounted access to the precious metal while also supplying essential funding for miners to develop their assets.
Physically-backed products, such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), had been one way for investors to access gold investments, but these did not offer discounts or the capital miners needed to expand their operations.
The project had an international team behind it, with a core team based in Melbourne, Warsaw, and London, and advisors from Dubai and Israel.

$1.5 Million raised as initial capital

The project raised an initial capital of $1.5 million through crowdfunding via the Metalicoin community, who believed in the project.

Metalicoin is a cryptocurrency backed by real metals like gold, silver, and platinum. The DMX project originally started as an initiative to launch Metalicoin; however, it eventually pivoted and broadened its scope into a full-fledged digital exchange for metals.

Metalicoin launch

MetaliCoin a crypto currency backed by REAL METAL was launched. The pre sale was a resounding success and the IMO (Initial Metal offer) was planned.

KYC Solution Development

Since off-the-shelf solutions did not meet the project's requirements, a custom end-to-end Know Your Customer (KYC) solution was developed from scratch. This bespoke solution addressed specific project needs, from customer onboarding and identity verification to compliance management and data security. The tailored approach ensured flexibility, scalability, and full compliance with regulatory standards, ultimately delivering a more robust and adaptable system than pre-existing alternatives.

Project acquisition of $90+ Million

Gold mines in Australia and Ecuador listed approximately $93.5 million worth of gold, priced at current market rates, for sale on the Digital Metal Exchange (DMX). This gold was offered at a discounted rate of $80 million, providing a significant value proposition for potential buyers.

01 . The Challenge

Transform the travel experience by making it more engaging and collaborative for active (drivers, cyclists) and passive (commuters, passengers) users. Additionally, explore B2B opportunities for Samsung by adding value to existing mobility solutions with minimal cost and environmental footprint.

  • User Engagement: How can we make travel more interactive and enjoyable for all users?
  • B2B Solutions: How can Samsung leverage its technology to create scalable, value-driven mobility solutions for businesses?

A critical part of the process involved understanding key user needs, identifying pain points, and mapping the gaps between existing offerings and emerging expectations. Through design research and contextual inquiry, the team charted a landscape of opportunity—highlighting areas where innovation could deliver meaningful value for both users and OEMs. The project explored possibilities for both retrofitting existing solutions and developing new scenarios tailored to the increasingly digitally aware consumers in emerging markets such as India and other parts of South Asia.

Concepts like Magic Dial and Smart Dock were designed as retrofits that adapt to the current technological landscape. In contrast, ideas like Smart Console and Smart Access introduced entirely new paradigms of interaction and utility, aiming to redefine how users engage with digital systems in their everyday lives.

03 . Key Highlights & Outcomes

It was a bright beginning for Samsung’s B2B enterprise solutions, particularly in the automotive sector—aimed at empowering car manufacturers and OEMs in emerging markets like India and South Asia to innovate on top of a flexible digital platform. The initiative explored both retrofitting possibilities and new experience paradigms, enabling partners to enhance their current offerings while preparing for the future of mobility.

Functional Prototypes Developed:

Key concepts such as Magic Dial, Smart Dock, Smart Console, and Smart Access were translated into 1:1 prototypes to evaluate feasibility and user interaction.

Consumer Focus Groups Conducted:

In-depth focus groups were held to gather feedback from target users, understand behavioral insights, and capture reflections on digital experiences within vehicles.

Insights Applied to Further Development:

Learnings from the prototypes and focus groups guided the refinement of ideas and shaped the direction of subsequent innovation efforts.

Real-World Impact:

Several of these developments influenced future projects and were integrated into the upcoming lineup of BMW’s mid-segment vehicles, highlighting the strategic value of the initiative.
